Instructions on How to Extract Dye from Flowers
- Boil Water – Add as much water as required for the quantity of dye required.
- Add Flowers – Add ½ to 1 cup of dried or fresh flowers to the boiling water.
- Simmer for 5-10 minutes – The water will turn a deep blue color as anthocyanins are released.
- Strain & Store – Once cooled, strain the dye into a glass jar or cup.
- Optional pH Change Effect –
- Add lemon juice (acidic) to turn the blue dye purple.
- Add baking soda (alkaline) to turn the blue dye green.
- Storage Tip: Store in the fridge for up to one week or freeze in ice cubes for later use.
